Description

Valhalla can wait, as the heavenly noisemaker Thor roams the earth and roars for kicks. Rising is Canadian rocker Jon Mikl Thor’s 2020 album. This album is a storm of metallic fury. It features his classic 80s sound combined with modern influences to create a potent blend of old and new that has kept this metal viking thriving for over 4 decades. It opens with the sludgy blues track, Wormhole, before shifting into more melodic territories. Thor also shows a rare sense of self-irony and vulnerability to the singer’s classic comic-book-inspired persona, like The Party Never Ends where Thors sings: I’m too old to act my age, dim the lights and hit the stage, Turn the Marshall up to ten Pack this auditorium. There are plenty of fun tracks as well and even if Thor has a problem with his age in The Party Never Ends his classic bombastic superhero attitude still remains in the high-energy tracks and the overall album is a must have for fans of the mighty Thor.
