Split album with early demos these two Swedish bands. The black metal band Throne Of Ahaz was founded in the cold forests of Umeå in the winter of 1991. Their debut demo At The Mountains Of Northern Storms was released the year after. The demo showed a band with influences from Bathory, Kreator, Merciless, Darkthrone and Tiamat. The Moaning from Luleå were rooted firmly in the black/death metal genre and they released their first and only demo in 1994 a demo that gave them a contract with No Fashion records, whre they released their one and only album Blood From Stone three years later. The Moaning have an almost typically Swedish sound for the mid nineties. All tracks are catchy and memorable but they still maintain a brutal edge with lots of blastbeats. The Moaning featured some of the elite members of the Luleå town; Pierre Tornkvist – Vocals (Scheitan, Helltrain, The Everdawn, Decortication) Mikael Granqvist – Guitars (Satariel, Incinerato) Patrik Tornkvist – Guitars (Decortication, Scheitan, Helltrain, The Everdawn Incinerator) Niklas Svensson – Bass (Gates Of Ishtar, The Everdawn, Decortication, Throne Of Ahaz) Andreas Nilzon – Drums (Satariel, Incinerator). This album should please all fans of the genre.
