Description
Tokyo Blade from Salisbury, South West England was formed in 1979 under the name White Diamond, then Killer in 1980, then Genghis Khan in 1981 and finally to Tokyo Blade in 1983. As Genghis Khan they released the Double Dealin double single and when they changed name to Tokyo Blade they decided to re-pack all the remaining copies of Double Dealin and sold them as two separate singles under their new name, If Heaven Is Hell and 2nd Cut. Then came the Powergame single in 1983 which should be considered the bands debut single as its the first Tokyo Blade single that presents new tracks. This single is a proof that this band should have joined Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Saxon at the top of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal instead of loosing it all in those common behind-the-scenes business deals that can ruin any bands career. This quintet certainly possessed the raw talent and the actual musical chops; their self-titled debut from 1983 was much better produced than most independent NWOBHM albums released at the same time. Fans of Nwobhm just need this single. Its worth every penny.
