Description

Folkscene was a weekly program, broadcast Sunday evenings on KFPK-FM out of LA, and hosted for 37 years by the now-late husband and wife team of Howard and Roz Larman, Across its history it featured live performances and interviews, by and with, any number of musicians and performers that the hosts approved of, including John Sebastian, Joan Baez, Rodney Crowell and Wendy Waldman, among numerous others. Tom Waits appeared 3 times on the show, once each in 1973, 1974 and 1975, and every time he was on he both performed his latest tunes and was interviewed by Howard. This album features pieces from those sessions and gives both a magical insight into the development of Waits music through the earliest part of his career, and provides a glorious listening experience from the time when Tom was still at his barroom balladeering best.
