Description

Truce was formed in 1984 and quickly became the premier thrash metal band in the Salt Lake City area. They were a powerful live band and fans wanting to mosh out to some high energy speed punk thrash music kept going to their gigs so the band had quite a following. Truce blend of over the top thrashy guitars and aggessive vocals alongside their raunchy lyrical content put these guys on Utah’s own filthy fifteen. They debuted with the Nictophobic demo in 1988 with the classics A.L.P.F. and Ugg, their most-requested tracks at their gigs. Their follow up demo, Truce, was released in 1990 and the band managed to sell all 1000 copies in a short period. This 7-track demo features tunes such as Euthanasia, License To Kill and Rigormortis as well as a killer version of Cream’s Sunshine Of Your Love and also the band classic Ugg, from their debut demo, was re-recorded for this tape. Their third demo, Systematic Slaves, was released the following year and this time it consisted of 4-tracks. With these three demos the band managed to continue to play live and keep their loyal fan base but they never managed to get the attention from the major record companies that many thought. When Grunge came around at the same time as their third demo the market for thrash metal died and all record labels turned their back on music like this. Truce continued and when the market turned around they tried to make it back with their debut album, Salespitch For The Masses, in the summer of 2010. It was an independent release and was badly distributed and mostly got spread around in their local area to the fans that already knew who they were. So with this last shot to try to reach out being another failure the band called it a day. Their retirement was however short-lived and they soon returned again under their new name Truce In Blood. The Rigor Mortis album was released in 2023 and its a compilation featuring the three first demos by the band. So here you get all the early material the band did. They also used to play a fine cover version of Bob Dylan’s Rainy Day Women. Would have been a great bonus if their had been a studio session of that track from those days. Truce opened up for many big names in the thrash metal genre when they played or toured with acts such as The Accused, Voivod, Violence, M.O.D., Kreator, Overkill, Coroner, Znowhite, C.O.C., Ludichrist, Coven, Laaz Rocket along with many local bands. Some local shows could draw the attention of 200 people. They were devoted to thrash metal music and deserved more than they got, But it was fine times indeed.
