Description

The Polish metal band Turbo was created in Poznan in 1980 and they released a very rare vinyl single the first year without any picture sleeve. This single features two tracks that never made onto the first full length album 2 years later. Their debut album ‘Dorosle Dzieci’ in 1982 was recorded with the line-up of vocalist Grzegorz Kupczyk, guitarists Wojciech Hoffmann and Andrzej Lysow, bass player Piotr Przybylski and drummer Wojciech Aniota. The band would later include thrash metal bits into their music but this album from 1982 is not as fast but more pure heavy metal. Listen to the great opening track ‘Szalony Ikar’, the fabulous instrumental track ‘W Sobie’ that you wonder where it could have gone if they had added some vocals, the album hits back to speed immediately with ‘Ktos Zamienil’ with speed and the great guitar riff. The B-side continues much in the same style as the A-side. Featured here are the heavy ‘Mowili Kiedys’ and then it ends with the 7 minute long title track. The band would after this album lose their bass and drummer and they would go on to experiment with their style and record both good, bad, strange and even funny material. The band members have always talked about those years as ‘the bad’ years. However they would find a new rhythm section of bassist Bogusz Rutkiewicz and Alan Sors on drums for their second album, 1985's 'Smak Ciszy' and this line up would be stable for the third album also 'Kawaleria Szatana' in 1986. With their second album the band had gone back to their way of playing glorious heavy metal. The material written during the period of the first and second album would remain unreleased until the Polish label released the mega Turbo box set. The second and third album would land them a deal with Noise records who would release their fourth album, ‘Last Warrior’ in English. This debut might not have the best cover artwork but don’t let that yellow trousers fool you, it’s a great metal album and definitely deserves to be in all good record collections. It sold 113 000 copies in Poland and now it’s time you’ll catch up with this great band. Original polish pressing with printed innersleeve. Condition vg+/vg Track listing: 1. Szalony Ikar 2.
