Description

Progressive rock outfit Twelfth Night led the field during the early 80's before the bubble burst and Marillion gained their EMI deal. Originating from Reading and formed by former students Brian Devoil and Andy Revell they were originally titled The Andry Revell Band. Under this guise the duo won various local talent contests prior to a name change to Twelefth Night in 1978 and the acquisition of Clive Mitten and Rick Battersby. The group's debut album saw the light of day in 1980 and after that the band went through several line-up changes. By the end of 1983 after a successful tour promoting their ‘Fact And Fiction’ album the vocalist Geoff Mann announced he was to leave. A replacement was immediately found in Andy Sears formerly of Canis Major and the band signed a new record deal with Music For Nations in January of 1984. The band decided to release their last performance together with old vocalist Geoff Mann made at London's Marqueee Club on the 4th and 5th of November as a live album and then they undertook a lengthy British club tour to promote it (a little know fact is that the live audience recording from this show were used by Music For Nations for Metallicas ‘Jump In The Fire’ maxi single B-sides). The band would reach more success with their nex album ‘Art And Illusion’ before Marillion took over as England finest progressive rock act. However for any fan of Marillion or other progressive rock bands this is a band to catch up on as they did very well with their somewhat grandiose and pretensions music. With gatefold cover Track listing: 1. The Celing Speaks 2. The End Of The Endless Majority 3. We Are Sane 4. Fact And Fiction 5. The Poet Sniffs A Flower 6. Sequences
