Description

The first album of Finlands melodic black metal act Twilight Ophere, Shadows Embrace The Dark, went under the radar of most people. Their second album, Midnight Horror (released in 1999) is still melodic black metal but it also features a lot of classical undertones, traditional heavy metal breaks and quotes from horror movies. Hopefully this album will get the attention the band deserves as it crushes most of the stuff Cradle Of Filth are doing. This album features some heavy and epic hymns like Burning Velvet Palanquin, songs garnished with calmer sounds Devastation Of Empyrean (Before The Dawn) and black power metal killers like the slightly reminiscent of Children Of Bodom track, Chaos And The Conquest or the absolute highlight Night Beholds The Supreme Clandestine with its highly melodious guitars, thundering double-bass and accentuating keyboards. Anybody, who has some rough vocals and thinks he or she can arrange music himself/herself should check out this album first
