In terms of the 1980 disc from Hammerheads, in West Islip Long Island on the 8th of August 1980, its obvious how much difference a year makes as Twisted Sister had four new songs in their set — What You Don’t Know (Sure Can Hurt You), Bad Boys (Of Rock ‘N’ Roll), Destroyer and You Know I Cry with the first track becoming really only the second song to be a staple of the band’s live set (after Under The Blade) to this day. Dee augments the lyrics to Bad Boys Of Rock ‘N’ Roll to include an F bomb. There are a couple of repeats (Saviors, Come Back, Under The Blade and Plastic Money), but also more familiar material. Less jabbering from the stage as they run through 11 originals and the closing cover of Born To Be Wild. Dee does call out someone who lobbed an ice cube at him. His vocals are in the forefront throughout the show. The sound quality isn’t the greatest on the Hammerheads disc but it seems better than the Donington one. But even if the sound quality isnt great it really captures Twisted at their best…live and in a small club, yes Hammerheads was another one of those haunt, on Long Island. So sit back and enjoy the energy, which more than makes up for the sound quality.
