UFO is one of the seminal hard rock bands that forged a 30 year career through countless world tours and millions of record sales. A band named after a nightclub that started out in London circa 1969 with vocalist Phil Mogg and bassist Pete Way. a band that became one of the top touring acts in the 1970s. Covenant proves that the still popular group has lost none of it’s trademark rough musical sensibilities that has made the name UFO symbolic of hard dynamic English rock. Some will complain that its not Lights Out or Obsession but the fact is that it proves that the band can still deliver some of the best pure hard rock around these days. This is a progression of the band’s music into the year 2000. This is the second album after guitar hero Michael Schenker returned and all songs, but two, are written by Michael Schenker and vocalist Phil Mogg. The sound is pure UFO with the typical Moggy vocals and the fast and aggressive riffs plus sweet solos by Schenker. Like I said its not their best album but its definitely not a bad album. Its sweet to hear these top british hard rockers still being able to deliver hard rock this good.
