Ulvers first real demo, Vargnatt, was released in 1993 and it showed this Norwegian band at their deepest and darkest groundings. This as well as the first album, Bergtatt, showed a band that were interested to play black metal influenced by folk music. It was followed up by Kveldssanger album in 1996. This album was an entirely acoustic folk album. Then in 1997 came Nattens Madrigal, an album that fans of Norwegian black metal will forever see as their crowning jewel. It featured some raw and aggressive black metal. Then in 1998 the band started to evolve when they became more interested in producing experimental, electronic and avantgarde music. Today the band has become a multi-disciplinary avant-garde group. For those who prefered the bands darkest, more ferocious side that you need to check out this one featuring material from the black metal periods in the bands history. Here you have rehearsals for the Nattens Madrigal album, rehearsals for the first demo as well as a few live tracks from the bands first live concert, that was held in Olso in Janury 1993. The sound might not be top notch but it gives such a rare glimps into the history of Ulver
