Description
Arizona act Vektor actually breathed life into a slightly outdated progressive thrash metal genre with their debut album Black Future in 2009. And they did it in a rather interesting way and showed that generally in metal music the last word had not been said yet. Their music is heavily themed around scientific, philosophical, futuristic and astronomical topics and reading the lyrics and looking at the logo its easy to see that the band has a soft spot for Voivod. However their technical and progressive brand also sounds inspired by Coroner, Watchtower and Mekong Delta. If Black Future started as a quiet buzz then it quickly grew to a deafening roar of rave reviews from the press and scores of comments from fans in hundreds of blogs, news sites and message boards with their follow up album, Outer Isolation in 2011. Not many know that the story of Vektor goes further back than 2009 when Black Future was released. The band made two self financed demos Demo-lition in 2007 and the two track promo cdR disc Hunger For Violence in 2007. But thats not all. The history of the band started as early as 2002 under the name of Locrian where they released a 4-track demo in 2003. One of the tracks on the Locrian demo (also known as Nucleus) was the 12-13 minute long Accelerating Universe that was later re-recorded for the Hunger For Violence promo in 2007. What we have here is an official re-release of the bands Locrian demo as well as the 2007 version of Accelerating Universe when the band were called Vektor. So you do get some unreleased material as well as early versions of Oblivion and Destroying The Cosmos that later were e-recorded for Black Future and Venus Project that later were re-recorded for Outer Isolation
