Joseph Williams, son of legendary composer John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws), has re-entered the world of melodic rock after pursuing his career in writing jingles for commercials, being the singing voice of Simba on the Disneys Lion King movie etc. He’s released three solo albums of varying quality, but his true fame comes from serving as Toto’s vocalist for two albums, the decent Farenheit and the superb, Seventh One. Fans of that album, in particular, have always hoped for a worthy follow-up. Vertigo, in some ways, comes close. While the songwriting isn’t quite up to that standard, the production is first-rate and there are some wonderful songs here. Not Enough Hours In The Night, Straight To Your Heart and Never Let You Go, reach the pinnacle of melodic excellence, all sung with the trademark vocals of Williams.
