Void Moon was formed in early 2009 by bassist Peter Svensson and vocalist/guitarist Jonas Gustavsson along with drummer Thomas Hedlund. A demo was recorded in 2010. A limited numbered vinyl single was released later that year featuring 4-tracks taken from that 2010 session. Void Moon draws inspiration and strength from the old gods of Black Sabbath and Candlemass empowered by torchbearers like Solitude Aeturnus and contemporary bands like Hammers of Misfortune and Grand Magus. The songs are written in the early doom vein and the lyrical themes surround Crowleys teachings, horror stories, death and philosophy. This debut single is a great taster for their full length album On The Blackest Of Nights that was released in 2012 (three of the tracks from this single would be re-recorded for the album). The highlight for me is actually the B-side track Through The Gateway sandwiched between two short instrumental tracks. This track feels like something that Cathedral could have done and I really like Jonas Gustavssons vocal performance on this track.

And greet me as one of their kind

Void moon really impress me with this one and they show that they are capable of playing a varied type of Doom metal. Highly recommended
