Wartime from Bogota is one of the finest doom metal acts ever coming out of Colombia. Volumen II is, like the title says, their second album. And the band name hails from a Pentagram track. In terms of musical influences the band has mentioned all of those traditional doom metal acts such as Force, Count Raven, Paul Chain, Calibre 38, Scald but they also love their hard rock and proto doom acts such as Dust, Mountain, Buffalo, Coven and Black Widow. Drummer and vocalist Alejandro Osorio also says the band are interested in classical composers like Beethoven, Holst, Chopin and Wagner and in terms of non-musical influences, we are heavily influenced by authors like Hesse, Nietzsche, Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Tolkien among others. The band’s themes and topics include mythology, religion, history, human issues, self-communion and folk tales. So what you get on this album is traditional doom at its core but it also have that horror twist. There are killer riffs, bouncy and heavy while the music is dark without being depressing.
