An odd compilation album from Rising Sun Productions with at the time up and coming acts. The cd and cassette version comes with two bonus tracks not available on the vinyl version. Lots of unreleased tracks makes this an interesting compilation
Gypsy Kyss
An American progressive rock band. The track here is taken from their second album, Songs From A Swirling Ocean. The band fell apart after their third album and the writer of this track, Michael John Dickes, started a solo career. The band is also featured here with a live version of the track Peccavi taken from a 1992 cd single
Psychotic Waltz
Another progressive act, this time from San Diego. The track here is exclusive for this album when the band has recorded a Born Again era Black Sabbath cover in Disturbing The Priest. Quite an impressive version with a singer that obviously can sound like Gillan at times. Well worth hearing
False Witness
An impressive progressive power metal act from North Delta in British Columbia in Canada. This band released a 4-track self financed cassette in 1991. This tracks is the opening track on that cassette and since its added to the Rising Sun rooster its most likely that the band were supposed to release a full length album on the label. This never happened and the band first returned in 1995 with another 4-track demo tape. The band never got signed and disappeared after this second demo. In 2008 a compilation album was released on cd with these two demos as well as two previously unreleased tracks that were recorded in 1989 (before the first demo).
Hades
Yes this is the classic progressive thrash metal act from Clifton in New Jersey. This live track is taken from the Live On Location recording. For some reason it wasnt on the Rising Sun cd/lp release but later it was added to the re-pressings. So when this compilation was released then it was an exclusive track.
Platinum
This US power metal act from Bloomfield in New Jersey was formed in 1983 and they released two tapes in 1989 and 1990. This lead to a deal with Rising Sun who released their debut album Iceman in 1990. The album featured most of the tracks from the tapes. The band split up in 1993 but more material was found and unearthed on a cd in 2020.
Mystrez
A technical trash metal act from Wierden in Holland. The track here is lifted from their debut album The Indicitment. The band never released anything on Rising Sun. Instead they changed name to Change Of Season and started to play progressive metal and later more rock than metal. Then in the late 90s they went back to the Mystrez moniker.
Mystic Force
Us power metal act from Baltimore that was formed in 1983. The band is still going strong and this track was lifted from their, at the time, upcoming album The Eternal Quest.
Taramis
The classic power thrash metal act from Melbourne, Australia who released their debut album Queen Of Thieves in 1987. The band was heavily promoted by Metal Blade, who re-released the album in 1988. A demo was recorded in 1988 and many thought this band had a bright future on Metal Blade. Instead they vanished for most metal listeners before they made a welcomed return in 1991 with Stretch Of The Imagination. This track is listed from that new album
Mike Dickes
This track is a solo track by Gypsy Kyss founder Michael John Dickes. This track has never been released anywhere else (to my knowledge).
Battlefield
Thrash metal act from Freiberg, Germany most known for their We Come To Fight 1988 album. The band changed vocalist to Tanja Ivenz and became more progressive. The band were sought up by Rising Sun who released their album Still And Ever Again in 1991. This compilation features a track from that album
Arcane
This is the progressive thrash metal act from Arlington, Texas who released the album Destination Unknown on Wild Rags Records in 1990. The track on here were on their 1991 demo suggesting that they might had a deal on its way with Rising Sun. Unfortunately nothing happened and the band fell apart in 1992.
