Led by the dual talents of vocalist Mike Tramp and guitarist Vito Bratta, White Lion rode the crest of 1980s hair-metal bands with a brand of melodic hard rock that invited favourable comparisons to Van Halen, Europe, and Dokken. White Lion – Concert Anthology: 1987-1991 presents a collection of concert clips recorded between the breakthrough success of their 1987 album, Pride, and the band’s final breakup in 1991, including live performances of White Lion hits like “Wait,” “Hungry,” “When The Children Cry,” and “All You Need Is Rock N Roll”. This release features mostly material from two live shows supporting Pride. One from New York and the other from Japan. I wish so that the material would have been cleaned up instead of just been taken from hard to find vhs recordings. However it is what it is and its still worth the price just to see these enjoyable old recordings. The Japanese show has the worst quality of the two which is a shame for thats the one with the greatest tracks, like Tell Me. There are also some cool bonus material like interviews taken from the Escape From Booklyn videotape, tracks from Mike Tramps Freak Of Nature which is fun just to hear Mike roar like a grunge artist introducing this band members. There is also an interview with the band while they are shooting the video for Little Fighter and an alternative video version of Broken Heart. So the overall quality is a shame but there are so little White Lion material out on the market so any die hard fan should be pleased to get this disc. It features White Lion at their peak and it also shows that they were so much more than the normal hair band.
