Witch was a Swedish metal band from Umeå who were heavily influenced by 80s heavy metal acts such as Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne. Confusingly, there was another band called Witch active in Sweden at the same time, from Boden (also in Northern Sweden). Witch from Boden had members such as Mike Wead, Joachim Lindbäck etc., but never released anything, and later changed their name to Warchild, and then Warning. Witch (from Umeå) on the other hand managed to get two tracks, Evil Night and White Death, onto a compilation album in 1983 called Helgdagsrock At Far on Pang Records. This band also released a bunch of demos before they split up in 1985. Anyone into acts such as their friends in Gotham City need to check this out. Straight forward 80’s Swedish steel with great riffs, vocals and catchy choruses.
