Ye who listen to Tyhjyys, Wolfheart’s third album, abandon all hope of another summer. With its cinematic, symphonic grandeur, Tyhjyys sees the originators of Winter Metal expand their musical scope. They have a very unique take on the genre that consists of very melancholy, almost symphonic instrumentation accompanied by brutal death metal vocals and heavy blast beat drumming. The album creates an atmosphere of what I can only describe as a post-apocalyptic world enveloped in never-ending winter. Listen to he Flood (by far the best track on the record) and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. 8 majestic Wolfheart tracks convey the harsh beauty of Mother Nature more emotively and freely than before, now already challenging the boundaries of extreme metal. Tyhjyys (Emptiness to non-Finnish speakers) is the majestic soundtrack to all things with fangs that trot in the wilderness. A perfect album to put on during the winter season.
