Canadian melodic rockers Wrabit was formed in the late 70s and made their debut with this self titled release in 1984. Members included lead singer Lou Nadeau, keyboardist Les Paulhus, guitarists David Alpin and John Albani, drummer Scott Jefferson Steck and bassist Chris Brockway. The band played Canadian-flavoured AOR along the lines of Prism, Kim Carnes and April Wine. The songs are catchy and melodic, and fairly light, though the album does have some more rocking moments. Wrabit never really broke big the way Journey, Foreigner and REO Speedwagon did, and that’s not really surprising. As solid as this album is, none of these songs are the kind of instantly memorable hits that those bands turned in time after time. Wrabit was good, but not great, and will probably only interest the most die-hard collectors of 80s AOR albums.
