Description

Black vinyl with lyric insert. Limited 250 numbered copies

Although they surely qualify as one of England’s most successful thrash metal bands, Lancashire’s hapless Xentrix ultimately came to epitomize all of Great Britain’s relatively insignificant contributions to speed metal — as compared to the genre’s utterly dominating American bands. Formed in 1986 (as Sweet Vengeance, in the town of Preston), Xentrix started life, not surprisingly, as a Metallica cover band, gradually drawing attention to themselves on the U.K. pub circuit and with their 1988 demo, Hunger For…. Fledgling Roadrunner Records soon took notice and signed the band, releasing their debut album, Shattered Existence, in 1989. The band went on to release some more thrash metal opus and the infamous Ghost Buster EP during the following years before the band went through some internal strife and when they got dropped by Roadrunner in 1993 then the band finally crashed to a halt. A tentative rebirth was made in 1996 with this album Scourge (featuring new vocalist Simon Gordon and second guitarist Andy Rudd). This album has lots of chunking guitars, original sounding vocals and amazing sounding kick drums. However it got released in 1996 when this time of thrash metal was long gone and it didnt do well so Xentrix had to face the bitter end once again.
