Live Animal is the same dvd as the Live dvd that was released in 2000 Swedish heavy metal guitar god Yngwie Malmsteen has been the subject of several video releases over the years (such as Rising Force: Live 85, Trial By Fire, The Yngwie Malmsteen Video Collection, etc.), and now we can ad this live recording from Brazil in May of 1998. Recorded in front of a large and receptive audience, Malmsteen (who is joined by singer Mats Leven, bassist Barry Dunaway, keyboardist Mats Olausson, and drummer Jonas Ostman) shreds away throughout, often pulling off the same repetitive, lighting-fast guitar runs over and over again. As many metalheads are by now well aware of, his compositions are often merely an excuse to show off his chops, which is evidenced throughout Live. Included are such standards as Rising Force, Trilogy Suite, Black Star (which begins with an acoustic guitar interlude), and perhaps his best-known song, the concert closing Ill See the Light Tonight. This dvd set shows that — astonishingly — Malmsteen's playing is even faster and more over the top in concert than it is on his studio recordings.
