Description
Zeno, named after the Greek philosopher Zeno of Citium, is a German act specializing in majestic Rock epics led by Jochen Joe Roth. Unfortunately, upon the band’s commercial arrival, the quality of their material was overlooked due to the unprecedented hype surrounding the first album. Bassist Ule Winsome Ritgen meet Zeno vocalist Michael Flechsig (a.k.a. Michael Flexig) when be played with Jochens older brother Uli Jon Roth in Electric Sun. Zeno signed to EMI Records, for an enormous advance, following a label bidding war but when it arrived it was slated in the press, the hype surrounding the band making them a somewhat inevitable target. Zeno had signed for a six album deal but was dropped by EMI shortly afterward. In 1993 the debut album was re-released and it sold an incredible 25000 copies so Zeno started to work on a second album. Zenology was released in Japan in 1995 and then in Europe in 1998 and it sold over 30000 copies. Zenology were made of demos featuring Flechsig and ex-V2 and Fair Warning vocalist Tommy Heart.
