Rare 2004 Finnish Warner Music pressing
Zero Nine, a hard rock band hailing from the small cold town Kuusamo located in the eastern part of Lapland. They were formed in 1978 and used to be the best known heavy rock combo at that time. The band remained in obscurity until 1980 when the band’s debut single, Down the Line won the television program Town Hall plate. The band released their debut album, Visions Scenes And Dreams, in January of 1982. The reviews were very positive and the label sent the band to England to record the second album Black Verse with Ian Gillan as producer. Expectations where high and this album and their third Headline really showed that the band where able to maintain a high level and they steadily increased their popularity during these years. Their fourth album, White Lines, was released by Virgin records and up to this point the band where so close to getting international success but international appreciation eluded them and when it was time for the band to record their fifth album, Intrigue, the found themselves back on a small Finnish label, Megafon records. Intrigue, is regarded by many fans as the bands creative peak. It was followed by Voodoo You in 1988, a great melodic hard rocking album with some really strong songs. This album saw the band gaining an extending following in Russia and they also managed to land prestigious support slots for bands like Iron Maiden and Ac/dc. Although Zero Nine where a high class band of major status, international appreciation eluded them and the band went on hiatus in early 1990, a silence that would last for 6 years. If you have missed out on this band and like 80s well produced hard rock then this is a great place to start
