Description
A noteworthy thrash metal band from Krasnogorsk in Russia that was founded in 1988. Zhelezny Potok (also known as Iron Stream) differs from the majority of the Russian bands who appeared at around the same time, they didn't change their sound radically or split up after just one album. Their first two releases were energetic, but not very skilful, Bay Area-influenced thrashers. The first album ‘Black Force/Chernaya Sila’ was released in 1988 and only on tape, the second release ‘Sign/Znamenie’ was released in 1991 on both tape and vinyl. The third album ‘Infinite Pain/Beskonechnaya Bol’ from 1993 came as a very pleasant surprise showing the band in a new light with much better musicianship, and some stylish technical touches recalling Voivod at their best. However, the guys were capable of even more which they displayed on their last album, the 1995 album ‘Calling Eternity/Zovuschaya Vechnost’. This album showed some stunning technical thrash which would remind you of Equinox, Voivod (again), and even a more accessible Mekong Delta. Seemingly having reached their creative peak, the band members scattered around the music field into bands with no relation to thrash. Track listing 1. Alkatras/Alkatras 2.
