A Boras based Power Metal band forged in early 1998. Zonatas demo recording ‘The Copenhagen Tapes’ would swiftly land the group a deal with Germany’s Century Media Records. The debut record ‘Tunes Of Steel’, produced by Holy Moses guitarist Andy Classen, is guitar based and sounds like early Iron Maiden and early Helloween. The songs are very good and Johannes writing skills are excellent along with help from the rest of the band. His brother John has some blistering solos on this album and some of his riffs are unbelievable. ‘Dream Child’ starts with a duel guitar harmony riff before it becomes a classic speed metal song in the vein of early Helloween. ‘Geronimo’ has some sadistic lyrics with cool vocals and a very cool Stratovarius style middle part, ‘Thor’ is a neo classical riffing all the way with some cool drum patterns and great fantasy lyrics to boot, ‘Beyond the rainbow’ is a classy ballad with good lyrics and a nice piano piece, ‘Critizied’ is a groovy track slow paced with great lyrics and vocals, ‘Welcome to this world of fun’ has a huge heavy riff and a crazy chorus, ‘the evil shadow’ is very Maiden esque and powerful with a sing along chorus and good melodies, ‘Bring you down to hell’ is Zonata summed up in a song excellent maiden style riffing, ‘Zonata’ an instrumental with loads of great melodies very complicated, ‘Viking’ is a weaker track the first song they ever wrote comes with a nice intro and catchy chorus.
